Around Obata

Obata stands in Hama-machi, on the right bank of the Asuwa River that runs from Saiwai Bridge through Sakura Bridge to Kujukubashi Bridge in central Fukui. Once a hub of riverborne trade serving Fukui Castle, the district transformed in the mid-twentieth century into a quarter of distinguished ryotei restaurants. Obata joins this neighborhood now to add a new chapter to its story.
